Show Description: Tuck Everlasting is based on the novel of the same name by Natalie Babbitt. It tells the story of a family who drink water from a magical spring and become immortal. When they encounter a young girl who lives in their rural New England town, she becomes friends with one of the sons, who soon offers her the secret to everlasting life. She then has to decide if she wants to join her new friends in immortality, or if she will live out her normal life. The story explores themes of life, death, and the natural cycle of existence. Ultimately, Winnie chooses to live a mortal life, understanding that death is a natural and necessary part of life.
This show runs approximately 2 hours plus a 15 minute intermission.
Content Warnings:
There are a couple of things we would like you to be aware of during this performance. Note that while these may seem intense, the script is based off a children's book and is intended for anyone age 8 and up.
--The script covers some mature themes you may wish to be aware of, such as: characters who live forever, dealing with the cycle of life and death, and growing up.
--There is a character who gets stabbed and another who gets shot (but it doesn't hurt them, since they are immortal), a kidnapping, and a wife who abandons her husband.
--There are also a few characters who die in our show: One character's parent dies offstage before the play begins, the villain character is killed by a blow to the head, and a few other characters die of old age.
